Account Executive - Safety and Transportation, Full-Time | In-Office
Location: Edmonton, AB

Role Overview

As an Account Executive at We Know Training, you’ll play a critical role in driving new business growth for our brands Danatec and Fleet Safety International, industry leaders in OH&S and transportation training. You’ll work closely with an Account Manager in a vertical-aligned sales pod, using a consultative approach to match clients with strategic training solutions that solve safety, compliance and workforce needs.

We’re looking for someone who brings safety knowledge and experience in industries like transportation, oil & gas, manufacturing, or construction along with a strong network of industry contacts to hit the ground running.

What Makes This Role Awesome

  • Impactful Work. Help organizations across Canada improve safety, compliance, and performance with industry-leading training solutions from our trusted brands like Danatec and Fleet Safety International.
  • Growth Opportunities. Represent a company that’s expanding rapidly across industries. Your success fuels your clients’ success.
  • Collaborative Culture. Join a team that values innovation, curiosity, and accountability.
  • Exceptional Workspace. Work in a bright, open-concept office that fosters creativity and teamwork.
  • Team Synergy: Join a collaborative, pod-based team structure where innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement are core values.

What You’ll Do

  • Target High-Value Verticals. As a member of a vertically aligned sales pod, you will focus on one or more of the following sectors: oil & gas, construction, mining, agriculture, manufacturing, transportation, and regulated driving schools. Each pod includes an Account Executive and Account Manager working in close collaboration to drive net-new growth and account expansion.
  • Educate and Advise. Leverage active listening and industry expertise to understand client or partner needs and recommend tailored training solutions from our portfolio of safety, compliance, and workforce development programs.
  • Deliver Engaging Presentations. Lead compelling, professional demos and consultative sales conversations—virtually and in person—that build trust and long-term value without pressure tactics (a core WKT value).
  • Drive Revenue Growth. Consistently meet or exceed monthly and annual sales targets by securing new business and expanding strategic accounts.
  • Work as a Pod. Collaborate closely with Account Manager(s) in your vertical pod to coordinate lead handoffs, co-develop client strategies, and ensure seamless lifecycle experiences through onboarding, renewals, and upsells.
  • Sell Strategic Bundles. Recommend bundled training packages tailored to each client’s compliance and operational needs
  • Manage a High-Performance Pipeline. Maintain a well-organized, up-to-date pipeline in CRM system (Freshsales). Ensure all leads, touchpoints, and deal stages are tracked and actively followed through.
  • Track and Optimize Sales Activity. Follow established sales processes, maintain accurate CRM documentation, and continuously identify ways to increase conversion rates and accelerate deal cycles.

Success Looks Like

  • You’ve built a pipeline of qualified leads within your vertical and regularly exceed discovery and conversion targets.
  • Your clients view you as a compliance advisor, not just a vendor.
  • You collaborate seamlessly with your Account Manager partner to renew, upsell, and grow multi-department accounts.
  • You consistently bring back market feedback that influences bundling, pricing, and marketing strategy.

What You’ll Bring

  • Previous Industry Experience: in a B2B sales or account management role within safety, compliance, or transportation-related industries.
  • Sector-Specific Knowledge: A solid understanding of compliance frameworks, OH&S regulations, and training needs within regulated industries such as transportation, oil & gas, construction, or similar.
  • Safety-Specific Knowledge: A solid understanding and ability to speak to OH&S legislation and industry standards. A successful applicant will be knowledgeable in areas such as the transportation of dangerous goods, WMHIS, ground disturbance, equipment operation, fall protection, driver safety, and/or other areas of safety and transportation training.
  • Strong Safety Language: The ability to communicate in a way that motivates safety managers, HSE leads, and training coordinators. You are knowledgeable and confident discussing terms such as due diligence, competency, regulatory compliance, and hazard control.
  • Established Industry Network: Existing relationships and contacts in safety-sensitive sectors that can be leveraged for warm outreach and strategic entry points.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Confident presenting to senior decision-makers, with an ability to build trust through consultative, educational conversations.
  • Sales Acumen: Proven track record of exceeding KPIs and managing high-value deals; results-driven with a focus on long-term value.
  • Tech Fluency: Familiarity with CRM systems (FreshSales is a bonus), ZoomInfo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and AI-powered sales engagement tools.
  • CRM Discipline: Meticulous pipeline hygiene, activity tracking, and deal documentation.
  • Daily Targets You’ll Embrace:
    • 20 outbound calls
    • 1 discovery meeting per day
    • 30% win rate
    • $500K+ annual new business contribution

What We Offer

  • Competitive Salary with Performance-Based Incentives.
  • Comprehensive Benefits Package. Health, dental, and more to support your well-being, as well as a corporate RRSP program.
  • Professional Development Opportunities. Learn, grow, and advance your career.
  • A Collaborative, Inclusive Environment. Work with a supportive team that values creativity and innovation.
