Reporting to the Facility Supervisor, the Custodian is accountable for the general cleaning/disinfecting/housekeeping throughout the assigned facility. In addition, the Custodian may assist with facility set up/take down as required by the facility schedule as well as assist customers visiting the facility.Job Duties Include
Performs room set-up and take down for functions (i.e. Birthday parties and weddings) and cleans room after function has ended.
Vacuum, sweep, mop and wax floors. Wash and disinfect all washroom floors, toilets, toilet seats, hand dryers and fixtures. Clean all mirrors.
Replenish toilet tissue and soap as needed.
Empty all garbage and recycling containers.
Clean entrance and exit including glass, doors and hardware.
Wash all finger marks from walls, doors, hardware and glass.
Interact with the public to provide information regarding the facility.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills
Completion of Grade 12 diploma or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting.
Current Standard First Aid with CPR C certification.
Valid Class ‘G’ Ontario driver's license with a clear driver's abstract.
Good communication skills; reading, writing and oral skills.
Able to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.
Good interpersonal skills with the general public.
Able to work alone or with minimum supervision.
Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal safety equipment and clothing.
Able to provide a Criminal Reference check with Vulnerable Sector screening dated within the last six months that is satisfactory to the Town.
Able to work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends and statutory holidays. Ability to work at either McLean Community Centre or St. Francis Centre.
What is Offered to Staff
Rate of Pay: $27.64 - $30.05 per hour.
Hours of Work: This is a non-union position that works evening and weekend shifts, between the hours of 9:00 pm and 12:30 am, and the successful candidate must be available to work up to 24 hours per week.
