Overview of position: The Custodial & Maintenance Lead is responsible for overseeing staff on weekends or in the absence of the Clubhouse Manager, ensuring the cleanliness, organization, and upkeep of clubhouse facilities. This role also involves performing general handyman tasks as needed. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and committed to working safely and independently.
Responsibilities:
- Perform general repairs and maintenance on fixtures, furniture, fences, and equipment
- Complete minor plumbing tasks such as unclogging sinks and toilets, and replacing basic plumbing fixtures
- Carry out light carpentry and drywall repairs, including painting, staining, installing shelves, and adjusting or replacing door handles and locks
- Handle minor electrical tasks such as replacing light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, switches, dimmers, plugs, and fuses
- Clean and disinfect interior areas including walls, windows, ceilings, floors, carpets, furniture, blinds, air vents, and washrooms using manual and power cleaning equipment
- Maintain exterior areas such as entranceways, sidewalks, gutters, and parking lots by sweeping, raking, shoveling, or using power equipment to remove debris, snow, and other refuse
- Set up and tear down furniture for club events and banquets, including tables and chairs
- Monitor inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies, and notify the manager of restocking needs
- Clean and restock bathrooms, locker rooms, staff areas, and public spaces throughout the clubhouse and golf course
- Remove garbage and recyclables; ensure safe disposal of hazardous materials
- Assist fellow maintenance staff in maintaining clean and organized workspaces and public areas
- Respond to unexpected cleaning needs such as spills or special guest requests
- Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and other departments
- Foster a positive and professional atmosphere for members and guests at all times
- Maintain punctuality, adhere to safety standards, and follow Club appearance guidelines
- Build and maintain positive working relationships across departments
- Coordinate with and oversee contractors when necessary
- Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
- Proficient in the safe and effective use of small power tools and equipment (e.g., hammer drills, augers, circular saws).
- Capable of performing tasks using standard janitorial tools and equipment.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities effectively.
- Positive attitude with a strong team-oriented mindset and willingness to support various tasks as needed.
- Exceptional customer service skills and a professional demeanor.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Physically capable of performing demanding tasks, including safely lifting up to 80 lbs.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating sound judgment and problem-solving abilities.
- Possession of a valid WHMIS Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
- Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle for work-related duties.
- Possession of a valid First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Compensation and Benefits:
