Job Summary:
The Creative Content Officer at Action For Humanity Canada plays a key role in developing compelling content that amplifies the organization’s mission, campaigns, and impact. The role is responsible for generating written, visual, and multimedia content for use across digital platforms, campaigns, reports, and donor communications, ensuring brand consistency and strong storytelling that engages diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Development
- Research, write, and edit engaging content for social media, blogs, websites, donor communications, and publications.
- Create campaign-specific content aligned with AFH Canada's messaging and brand voice.
- Assist in the creation of scripts, captions, and stories for videos and short documentaries.
- Adapt content for multilingual or multicultural audiences where needed.
Visual and Multimedia Coordination
- Collaborate with graphic designers and video editors to produce branded content.
- Source and edit imagery and graphics for online and print use.
- Support photo and video documentation during events, field visits, and campaigns.
- Ensure all content is accessible, inclusive, and adheres to organizational and AODA standards.
Digital Engagement
- Assist in managing the organization’s content calendar across platforms (web, email, social).
- Track content performance and analytics in collaboration with the digital team.
- Recommend new content formats and storytelling strategies to boost reach and engagement.
Campaign & Program Support
- Develop compelling stories and case studies from the field and beneficiaries.
- Support fundraising and advocacy campaigns through content tailored to donors, partners, and the public.
- Assist with grant or project reporting by contributing creative summaries, visuals, and infographics.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Diploma or degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Media Studies, or a related field.
Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in content creation, storytelling, digital media, or communications.
- Experience in a nonprofit, humanitarian, or advocacy environment is an asset.
- Portfolio of written and/or visual content required.
Skills & Competencies:
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Strong understanding of social media trends and content formats.
- Basic knowledge of design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) is an asset.
- Photography/videography experience is an asset.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
- Creativity, initiative, and attention to detail.
Language Requirements:
- Excellent written and spoken English is required.
- French is an asset, especially for content aimed at bilingual or Quebec-based audiences.
- Other languages such as Arabic or Urdu are considered assets.
Work Environment:
- Hybrid
- Occasional travel for events, programs, or field documentation may be required.
