Course Description: Introduction to and exploration of contemporary issues and theories about equity in education and society in Quebec/Canada from a range of perspectives, including the historical, political, social, and economic. Provides learning opportunities for future educators to critically reflect upon and engage with equity issues and concerns in relation to schooling, including the exploration of classroom resources and activities that foster anti-racism, anti-oppression and intercultural approaches.

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs):
Education
- Master educator with an MA (i.e., curriculum studies, social justice education, critical pedagogy, educational foundations - philosophy, sociology, and history of education) and extensive relevant experience as a school educator/pedagogue/community educator/ curriculum developer
- PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset.
Experience
Expert knowledge of:
- Equity issues in education
- Contemporary issues in education
- Social justice issues in education
- Critical pedagogy
- Anti-racist and anti-oppression education
- Multicultural and intercultural education
- Quebec educational and policy issues
Other
- Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level
- Experience as a school administrator, institutional leader, and/or master teach/intructor in the Quebec educational system
- Knowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion
- Familiarity using myCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences
- Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset
- Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools
