Nelson Lumber is looking for a customer service-oriented Counter Sales Supervisor for our Edmonton branch. This role will report to the Edmonton Sales Manager and is ideal for a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional customer experiences while driving business growth.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Development
- Recruit, train, and mentor store staff.
- Provide ongoing feedback for team development.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and implement development plans.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team culture.
Customer Experience Management
- Lead by example in delivering outstanding customer service.
- Train staff in customer engagement and product knowledge.
- Resolve customer concerns with professionalism and efficiency.
Sales and Business Performance
- Set and monitor sales goals; analyze performance metrics.
- Develop strategies to drive revenue and improve conversion rates.
- Motivate the team to exceed sales targets.
Operational Oversight
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of counter sales staff, assign duties, create work schedules, and provide guidance and support.
- Ensure accurate reporting and adherence to internal procedures.
- Oversee the sales process at the counter, including processing sales transactions, handling payments, deliveries and managing returns.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient store environment.
- Monitor stock and inventory levels.
- Ensure store presentation and merchandise aligns with Nelson brand standards.
Compliance and Safety
- Enforce safety protocols and company policies.
- Serve as a role model for ethical conduct and operational integrity.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years in supervisory roles, including managing a team, training, scheduling and performance management.
- Minimum 5 years in building materials or construction.
- At least 7 years of customer service experience
- Strong knowledge of lumber products/building material (LBM) and related products.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, CRM and ERP systems
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented and results-driven
- Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to motivate and lead a team, and foster a positive work environment.
