The Volunteer Experience (VE) Team is responsible for recruiting and maintaining effective volunteer support for CCS throughout an annual cycle of campaigns and activities. The team establishes and implements standards of practice, tools, resources, and support for the volunteer experience throughout the volunteer cycle.
MAKING AN IMPACT
Reporting to the Volunteer Experience Manager, Mission, the Recruitment Coordinator, Mission is a nationwide position supporting volunteer recruitment for CCS Mission and Operations activities. This includes preparing recruitment requests and processes in Salesforce, assisting with preparation for advertising, recruiting lead volunteers as required, and position volunteers for mission and operations programs.
This role is integral to the success of the Volunteer Experience Team.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
1. Recruit, onboard and offboard volunteers for CCS Mission and Operations Business areas utilizing specified strategies and implementing tactics.
- Works closely with the VE Manager, Mission & VE Business Partners- Mission in recruitment and onboarding of volunteers (including but not limited to): Lodges, Wig Banks, Camps, prevention and other opportunities in Mission & Operations.
- Works with the VE Manager, Mission & VE Business Partners- Mission to recruit volunteers for Advocacy and the Research (RIOT) programs as needed.
- Recruit and onboard necessary volunteers for CCS operations requests for example Finance, Digital, Student Internships
- Research and present ideas for successful recruitment for new audiences and communities of interest
- Execute recruitment tactics to secure new volunteers from public and specific communities.
- Ensure the accurate and consistent management of volunteer data in Salesforce, in respect of the recruitment, onboarding, screening metrics, and offboarding.
2. Work closely with the VE Mission staff in developing effective recruitment plans and executing recruitment targets
- Work collaboratively with Manager, Mission and Volunteer Experience Business Partner (VEBP), Mission to develop recruitment tactics that support targets.
- Use appropriate messaging and tone for recruitment needs to promote the program amongst communities of interest.
- Attend meetings where requested, seek feedback, and communicate plans and tactics with the VE Manager- Mission, VEBP- Mission, and Wheels of Hope Coordinators as needed, and/ or volunteers on a regular basis.
- Work directly with mission volunteers to support community- based recruitment and engagement.
3. Provides administrative support to the VE team for recruitment, onboarding & offboarding
- Supports volunteer onboarding and offboarding processes as required by other members of the VE team.
- Working with the VE team to ensure all components in Salesforce are up to date.
- Support other team members with volunteer inquiries from volunteer@cancer.ca, Salesforce and other forms of communication from volunteers.
- Support administrative requests regarding other VE tactics and tasks from Manager, Mission & Director, Volunteer Experience as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of one year experience working in volunteer engagement or talent selection
- Post-secondary education in a related field or administration, or equivalent years in experience in volunteer management
- Recognized certificate in volunteer management or working towards certification is an asset.
- Demonstrated skills in building smart strategies as well as examining data and trends around mobilization and engagement. Must be able to set and achieve SMART goals.
- Highly skilled in attracting and engaging networks, volunteers, groups, and, or supporters, building and sustaining strong relationships.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, positive can-do attitude, ability to self-motivate, works well without support, and contributes to a positive team culture.
- Superb organizational and time management skills, problem solving and analytical ability.
- Volunteer Engagement experience in all aspects of the volunteer cycle
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience working with social media and new technologies.
- Experience using CRM systems – Working knowledge of Salesforce is considered an asset.
- Intellectual curiosity and empathy is integral to this role
- English is required, French/Bilingualism (French /English) is an asset due to the organization’s nationwide operations
- Ability to work successfully in a team environment, maintain confidentiality and present creative solutions to challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak and write succinctly and clearly for a variety of audiences.
