Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heavy Civil Construction Superintendent to oversee and manage complex construction projects, with a focus on bridge, marine, and earthworks, from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of heavy civil construction processes. You will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Duties
- Supervise daily operations on heavy civil construction sites, ensuring strict compliance with safety regulations and environmental policies.
- Coordinate and manage subcontractors, suppliers, and laborers to ensure project milestones for critical infrastructure projects are met.
- Oversee quality control throughout the construction process, ensuring all work, from pile driving and concrete pours to final grading, meets specified engineering standards and client expectations.
- Utilize Microsoft Project for scheduling and progress tracking, and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for daily reporting and documentation.
- Read and interpret complex civil engineering blueprints, geotechnical reports, and project plans to effectively communicate requirements to team members.
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions while maintaining the structural integrity and quality of the build.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and promptly address any issues related to ground conditions, environmental constraints, or structural challenges.
- Collaborate with project managers to prepare detailed construction estimates and schedules for upcoming bridge, marine, and earthworks projects.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent or in a similar supervisory role, specifically on heavy civil projects involving bridge construction, marine structures, or large-scale earthworks.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Project for scheduling and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent skills in reading civil blueprints, interpreting geotechnical data, construction estimating, quality control, and budgeting, particularly for structural steel, reinforced concrete, and earth-moving operations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively in challenging site conditions while fostering a positive and safe work environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to solve complex logistical and technical challenges inherent in marine and bridge construction.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients, engineers, regulatory bodies, and team members.
