Job Overview
We are seeking a Construction Lead Hand to bring their expertise and dedication to our growing team. With a focus on commercial and industrial projects across the GTA, this role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience and a passion for delivering high-quality work. You will play an integral part in ensuring project success, collaborating with a talented team, and advancing your career in a fast-paced environment.
This position primarily involves work on job sites in Etobicoke, Mississauga, Oakville, and East York.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7+ years of hands-on experience in construction or trades
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certifications an asset
- Own reliable transportation with the ability to travel across the GTA (vehicle must be in good working condition)
- Experience in industrial construction is a major asset
- Proficiency with construction tools and equipment (e.g., drills, saws, grinders, and measuring tools)
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans
- In-depth knowledge of construction site safety protocols and standards
- Valid WHMIS certification and Working at Heights training (or willingness to obtain prior to starting)
- Possession of personal hand and/or power tools
- G class driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Physical stamina to work long hours in various weather conditions, including the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 100 lbs with assistance
Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate daily site activities to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to specification
- Collaborate with trade professionals (framers, electricians, masons, etc.) to execute project tasks
- Provide direction and support to crew members as required
- Install and handle building materials such as insulation, drywall, concrete, and steel
- Operate and maintain a wide range of tools and equipment
- Assist with construction layout and preparation based on plans and blueprints
- Identify and resolve on-site challenges with minimal supervision
- Monitor and maintain material inventory, communicating supply needs to supervisors or project managers
- Participate in safety meetings and enforce company and legislated safety guidelines
- Maintain site organization, including scaffolding, barricades, and temporary structures
- Perform and oversee site cleanups, ensuring safe and efficient disposal of materials
- Other duties as assigned by site supervisors or project managers
Requirements
- Reliable transportation to job sites across the GTA
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights (with relevant certifications)
- Flexibility to accommodate varying schedules, including potential overtime and weekend work
- Basic math skills for measurements and material calculations
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and as part of a team
