Under the General Direction of the Process Improvement Coordinator the Computerized Work Management System Specialist acts as a consultant and is responsible for the acquisition, development and implementation of C.W.M.S. within the Water Services Division. This individual will provide leadership and direction to professional and technical staff assigned to the C.W.M.S. project. Provide training to new staff and refresher training to existing staff on C.W.M.S./Synergen. This position also assists with project management, policy development, strategic planning, budgetary control, contract management and consultation services aimed at implementation and the continuous improvement of the Division's use of the C.W.M.S. System.

As the Computerized Work Management System (C.W.M.S.) Specialist, you will:

  • Be responsible for, and manage the development, implementation and application of the Computerized Work Management System (C.W.M.S.) to improve work practices in the Division's operating areas.
  • Participate in the coordination of work planning activities for operating areas.
  • Consult with operating staff, develop, test, and document various reports.
  • Monitor and report on workflow compliance, work request status, and performance measures.
  • Educate division staff on how to use the work management software through stages of training and development to on-going improvements and system upgrades.
  • Act as the Division's representative on the C.W.M.S. Change Management Steering Committee
  • Monitor the existing system technology to support the C.W.M.S. implementation.
  • Keep pace with industry standards for work management practices and supporting software systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Provincial Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulations, as well as Civic and Departmental policies and procedures to ensure safe work practices.
  • Perform other related duties consistent with the classification, as assigned.

Your education and qualifications include:

  • Trades Certification in a field directly related to the duties of this position would be preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Environmental Sciences or related field is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 2 years prior related experience in computerized work management systems and/or the operating area is required.
  • Completion of the Sacramento courses: Water Distribution System Operation and Maintenance, Water Treatment Plant Operation Vol 1 and Vol 2, within a reasonable period of time.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing leadership, direction and training to others.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal, including public speaking abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both external and internal sources at all levels of the organization, in both team and leadership roles, in accordance with the Respectful Workplace Policy.
  • Knowledge in the application of computerized work management systems and asset management database products and concepts.
  • Knowledge of the City's organization and operations & management practices.
  • Knowledge in Client/Server technology, local area networks, Internet access and microcomputer based development.
  • Knowledge of data base and work management capabilities, or the ability to acquire the knowledge within 18 months.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s License. The successful applicant will be required to provide a driver’s notice in force document upon request.
