Duties & Responsibilities:
As a Compounding Pharmacy Assistant, your duties will include:
- Answering phone calls and communicating with other healthcare professionals.
- Maintaining inventory levels to meet compounding demands.
- Preparing, processing, dispensing, and compounding creams, capsules, suppositories according to PCCA standards.
- Picking, inspecting, verifying, and disinfecting all components against the order sheet for compounding.
- Performing validation, calibration, and microbiological monitoring and checking.
- Assisting in the cleaning of equipment, totes, and work surfaces, and maintaining facility compliance.
- Participating in inventory counts.
- Processing compound orders in Kroll.
- Filling prescriptions and setting up orders for delivery.
- Prioritizing and communicating with other departments.
- Performing any other appropriate pharmacy assistant or administrative duties.
- Adhering to and implementing all applicable company standards.
Key Qualities We’re Looking For:
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Kroll in a retail pharmacy setting is an asset.
Key Requirements:
- Preferred: Pharmacy Assistant Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Minimum of 2 years of compounding experience in a Canadian pharmacy.
- Will consider applicants with 2 years of retail Canadian pharmacy experience in lieu of a certificate in some provinces.
- Ability to stand for the length of the shift and lift up to 15 kg (35 lbs).
- Regulated technicians are welcome to apply, with wage negotiation based on experience.
