The Kids with Cancer Society provides vital support to children with cancer and their families from diagnosis through survivorship. We deliver compassionate care, practical assistance, and life-enhancing programs that ease the journey through childhood cancer.
Position Summary:
The Communications & Volunteer Coordinator plays a key role in advancing the mission of the Kids with Cancer Society by building strong community awareness and engagement through strategic marketing, communications, and volunteer coordination. This is a hands-on role for a creative, organized, and people-oriented professional who can balance storytelling with systems thinking.
Key Responsibilities:
Marketing & Communications (60%)
· Execute annual marketing and communications plans aligned with organizational goals.
· Manage and grow the Society’s website and social media presence across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.).
· Create compelling content including newsletters, promotional materials, donor spotlights, impact stories and annual report, with support of the KWCS graphic designer.
· Coordinate internal communications strategies for KWCS families and staff.
· Oversee brand consistency across all channels and materials.
· Support media relations and PR opportunities in collaboration with leadership.
· Track campaign analytics and social engagement metrics; adjust tactics accordingly.
· Support the promotion of family events, fundraisers, and awareness campaigns.
Volunteer Coordination (40%)
· Recruit, screen, onboard, schedule and train volunteers for programs, events, and office support.
· Maintain a volunteer database and ensure proper tracking of hours and impact.
· Plan and deliver volunteer appreciation activities and recognition initiatives.
· Serve as the point of contact for volunteers, fostering a positive, meaningful experience.
· Collaborate with fundraising and program staff to ensure appropriate volunteer placements and support.
Qualifications:
· Degree or diploma in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field—or equivalent experience.
· 3+ years of experience in nonprofit marketing, volunteer coordination, or community engagement.
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong understanding of digital marketing, especially social media and email campaigns.
· Proficient with mail email management tools and CRM software
· Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively.

Working Conditions:
Full time in person, based primarily at the Kids with Cancer Society House.
Occasional evening or weekend work required for events and volunteer activities.

Salary range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000 per year. The Kids with Cancer Society offers comprehensive Medical and Dental Insurance as well as a matching RRSP program to full time employees.
