Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta is seeking a Communications and Development Lead who can help a grassroots organization increase its visibility and showcase it's impact. This role focuses on developing and executing a communications strategy, planning and promoting fundraising events, and building strong relationships with community stakeholders. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing our organizational capacity to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold.
The ideal candidate is an adaptable and proactive communicator with experience in storytelling, event coordination, stakeholder engagement, and donor relations. We are looking for someone who brings creativity and strategic thinking to digital communications, can manage multiple projects effectively, and is committed to advancing gender equity through strong community partnerships and consistent brand presence.

Responsibilities
Under supervision of the Executive Director, Communications and Development Lead is responsible for increasing community awareness/engagement, foster resource development efforts, strategic communications across various platforms, fundraising event planning and implementation and providing quality customer services to stakeholders. You will:
· Develop, implement, and update a year-long community engagement and communications plan, including fundraising and awareness campaigns, social media, website, and public relations.
· Lead the coordination and execution of special events, including concept development, logistics, sponsorship outreach, promotions, volunteer coordination, budget monitoring, and post-event evaluation.
· Maintain and enhance Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta's brand and presence through regular updates to the website, newsletters, social media, and other communications channels.
· Administer appeals (email, mail, and social media) and prepare/distribute press releases and annual reports in coordination with the Executive Director and relevant partners.
· Update and manage the fund development database and mailing list, ensuring accurate data entry, donor reporting, and analysis of fundraising campaigns and giving patterns.
· Identify and pursue opportunities for fundraising, partnerships, and program support, and represent the organization at meetings with partners and stakeholders.
· Support programming through strategic communications
· Uphold confidentiality and positive representation of Girls Inc. at all times.
Requirements
- · Post-secondary education in communications, marketing, public relations, fundraising, or a related field; equivalent experience will also be considered.
· Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a similar role involving communications, donor relations, or community engagement.
· Proven ability to write clearly and persuasively for various audiences and platforms (e.g., social media, newsletters, websites, media releases).
· Strong event planning and project coordination skills, with experience managing timelines, logistics, and budgets.
· Experience using digital tools and platforms (e.g., Canva, Mailchimp, donor databases, WordPress, social media scheduling tools).
· Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders, including donors, community partners, and volunteers.
· Organized, self-directed, and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
· Understanding of equity, inclusion, and gender-based programming is an asset.
· Knowledge of the Wood Buffalo region and its communities is considered an asset.
