Shift: Afternoon Shift - Sunday 3:30 pm to 12:00 pm & Monday-Thursday 5:30pm - 2:00 am. Onboarding may be scheduled Monday to Friday 7:30am - 4:00 pm
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced 5-Axis CNC Machinist with a background in custom architectural millwork and wood fabrication. Our ideal candidate will have strong proficiency in reading, troubleshooting and editing G-code, experience operating 5-axis CNC machines (SCM), and a keen eye for quality craftsmanship. This position plays a key role in producing precise and complex wood components for high-end commercial and institutional architectural projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and maintain 5-axis CNC machinery to fabricate custom wood parts and panels according to project specifications.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD/CAM files to ensure accurate execution of machining programs.
- Working with Programming department to read, and troubleshoot G-code for optimal toolpaths, speeds, and feeds.
- Load/unload materials, secure workpieces, and change tooling as required.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and calibrations to ensure consistent quality and reliability.
- Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and project managers to resolve production issues or design changes.
- Inspect finished parts for accuracy, quality, and conformance using calipers, gauges, and other measuring tools.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety procedures and company standards.
- Assist in material yield optimization and suggest improvements for machining efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience operating CNC routers in a woodworking or architectural millwork environment.
- Experience in high-end commercial and/or institutional wood millwork.
- Hands-on experience with 5-axis CNC machines; familiarity with SCM is a plus.
- Proficiency in reading and editing G-code; ability to troubleshoot and optimize code manually.
- Knowledge of woodworking tools, techniques, and materials (solid wood, P-Lam, veneers, MDF).
- Familiarity with CAM software is a strong asset.
- Ability to read shop drawings and fabrication documents with attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or in a team setting.
- Commitment to producing high-quality work in a deadline-driven environment.
Bonus Points:
- Forklift experience handling large panels safely.
- Background in joinery or cabinetry is a bonus.
- Familiarity with ERP or production tracking systems.
