JOB SUMMARY: Acting under the site team lead this position works as part of a team to deliver quality childcare to a maximum of 24 students in one of our before and after school care programs.
Follow daily activities working directly with children and communicating with the parents upon drop off and pick up. Follow the guidelines put forth by Licensing officer. Work as part of a team to implement the program activities and maintain an organized, safe and fun place to be. The program runs 5 days a week, majority of shifts are 2:30-5:30 or 6. Extended hours are available during non instruction days, early dismissals and school closures (winter, spring break and summer)
Interaction with the kids includes running activities such as crafts, outdoor games or group activities. Help deliver a healthy daily snack and plenty of active play Part time staff will have regular schedule weekly and casual workers will be on call and may be asked to work at any site.
QUALIFICATIONS
- MUST BE 19YRS OF AGE OR OLDER HAVE OR BE WILLING TO GET FIRST AID
- MINIMUM 20HRS OF COURSE WORK RELATED TO CHILDREN OR THE RESPONSIBLE ADULT CERTIFICATE SOME EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN
- ABILITY TO RUN AND PLAY WITH THE CHILDREN
- THE ABILITY TO LIFT 25LBS AND PROVIDE CARE TO CHILDREN IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY CALM DEMENOR, BUT ABLE TO HAVE FUN
- ENJOY THE OUTDOORS
MUST BE AVAILABLE AT LEAST 3 AFTERNOONS A WEEK (for either on call or part time) starting from 2:30pm
Must obtain a clean Criminal record check before being hired
Provide three references ( 1 personal and 2 work related) Willing to be member of our union BCGEU
