Vin Room is an award-winning wine and tapas bar located in Calgary. We pride ourselves on offering an extensive wine list paired with a tapas menu that highlights local ingredients infused with global flavors.
We are looking for a guest obsessed individual to join our team. The individual has a strong understanding of cooking techniques, food preparation principles, and culinary trends. Minimum 5+ years in a senior leadership role within the kitchen, flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays - and also have the ability and willingness to work at both Vin Room West and Mission.
As a CDC, you are responsible for menu planning, food preparation, staff management, and ensuring the quality and consistency of dishes. CDC will report directly to the Senior General Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
- Menu Planning & Development:
Creating and updating menus, including recipe development, plating design, and ensuring seasonal and regional availability of ingredients.
- Staff Management:
Hiring, training, and supervising kitchen staff, including assigning tasks, managing schedules, and fostering a positive work environment.
- Food Preparation & Quality Control:
Ensuring that all dishes are prepared according to recipes, quality standards, and presentation standards, and overseeing the entire cooking process.
- Inventory Management & Cost Control:
Monitoring food inventory, ordering supplies, and managing food costs to maintain profitability.
- Hygiene & Safety:
Enforcing strict health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen, and ensuring proper food handling procedures.
- Collaboration & Communication:
Working closely with other departments, such as front-of-house staff, to ensure smooth service and customer satisfaction.
- Trend Awareness:
Staying informed about current culinary trends and incorporating them into menu planning and food preparation techniques.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Culinary Expertise:
A strong understanding of cooking techniques, food preparation principles, and culinary trends. Minimum 5+ years in a senior leadership role within the kitchen, flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays - and also have the ability and wiliness to work at both street locations.
- Leadership & Management:
Ability to motivate, mentor, and manage a team of kitchen staff effectively.
- Organizational Skills:
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain a high level of organization in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff, suppliers, and other departments.
- Creativity & Innovation:
Ability to develop new recipes, plating designs, and menu concepts.
