We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Physician Assistant to join our Family Medicine team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care in a collaborative environment, assisting physicians in diagnosing and treating patients in a clinic setting. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, acute care practices, and the ability to work effectively with electronic medical records. We are part of the Hamilton Family Health Team, and our group has 4 physicians, 2 experienced physician assistants and an excellent team of nurses, medical assistants, our clinical pharmacist, social workers along with a consulting Psychiatrist.
This position is for one to two days per week with working hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical examinations and medical histories.
- Assist in the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic illnesses.
- Administer medications and perform procedures as directed by supervising physicians.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records for all patient interactions.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding treatment options and health management.
- Engage in pain management strategies for patients requiring specialized care.
- Work effectively in a hospital or medical office setting, demonstrating excellent communication skills with both staff and patients.
- Stay informed about advancements in pediatrics and other relevant fields to enhance patient care.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Current certification as a Physician Assistant in Canada (CCPA) with active CPSO licensure
- Proficiency in electronic medical records systems is highly desirable. Our clinic uses Telus PS Suites
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and procedures related to various specialties.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
