Cashier and Paint Associate
Full-Time – Approx 35-40 hours per week
Apsley Home Hardware Building Centre (AHHBC) is located in downtown Apsley, Ontario, serving the Township of North Kawartha and neighboring areas. We are currently seeking a qualified Customer Service Representative that will specialize as a Cashier and Paint Associate to join our team of experts in our Hardware Department.
The ideal candidate for the position will be able to demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills and will show an interest and aptitude for all hardware, lumber, building materials and paint-related applications. Successful applicants will be a team player and work well with others, take direction willingly and show initiative. Experience in a retail setting is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers who are seeking hardware merchandise and paint and paint-related products by asking questions related to the customers project, answering inquiries, assessing needs and providing expert advice on products and application
- Stock, organize and merchandise all products
- Greet customers warmly and ensure a good customer experience
- Perform a variety of administrative duties and process cash/debit/credit card transactions using a Point-of-Sale system
- Become proficient in all technology required to perform best results in mixing and creating colours for paint/stain products
- Clean and maintain professional appearance of display and merchandise areas
- Candidate will be required to stand for extended periods and must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs
- Other duties as required
Requirements and Qualifications
- Preferred candidate will have prior retail experience. Retail experience in the hardware and building materials retail industry is considered an asset
- Ability to perform in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment that requires a significant amount of lifting, carrying, standing, bending, twisting, gripping, etc. during each shift
- Possess an outgoing and friendly personality while maintaining professionalism and a high level of maturity
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to multi-task and take initiative
- Basic computer literacy and arithmetic skills to verify orders, invoices, shipping, and packing documents
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule of five days per week, between Monday to Saturday, and have reliable transportation
- Must be able to communicate effectively with management, employees, and delivery personnel and work cooperatively in a team atmosphere
