Nature and Scope
The Box Office Attendant will ensure effective and professional delivery of the box office operations at the Algonquin Commons Theatre and other venues for all Algonquin Students’ Association (SA) operations. As an ambassador for the SA, the Box Office Attendant will be polite, personable, outgoing, and able to work as part of a team. The Box Office Attendant will need to always ensure a high level of customer service, and their responsibilities will focus on the day-to-day delivery of professional and reliable customer transactions. This will include, but is not limited to, building relationships with client groups & customers to provide the highest level of customer satisfaction, working alongside clients to ensure their event needs are met, and providing customers with timely and accurate event details.
Job Duties
- Assist with the response of staff and client requests for information courteously and in a
timely manner - Communicate and meet with clients to ensure ticketing details are clear
- Track all outgoing and incoming ticket stock
- Liaise with the Theatre’s ticketing platform providers
- Process and track ticket sales, refunds, guest lists, comps, and exchanges
- Complete post-show ticket settlement forms to account for final ticket sales
- Handle and reconcile daily cash, debit, & credit card transactions
- Process Rental Invoice payments and Event Rental deposits
- Assist with building and maintaining of ticketing events and event web pages (including linking social media sites to ticketing platforms, & updating the internal booking system).
- Review all marketing material and event announcement information, and maintain all relevant marketing materials and posters (physical and digital)
- Troubleshoot any ticket scanner issues that arise
- Assist with day-to-day marketing tasks
- Train part-time box office staff
- Maintain the Box Office procedures manuals (inclusive of all platforms and equipment)
- Stay current on industry trends to help increase event ticket sales
- Ensure the cleanliness of the box office area, and that all equipment and supplies are stocked and up to date
- Maintain and update all Box Office forms (Ticket Tracking form, Pre-box Tracking form, Hearing Assist form, etc.)

Desired Skills and Qualifications
- A Post-Secondary education (diploma/degree) in a related field.
- Previous experience working in a box office setting.
- Cash & point of sales experience.
- Excellent customer service skills & strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to conduct cash transactions comfortably & accurately
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt
- Ability to successfully work in a team environment, as well as independently with limited supervision
- Ability to assist with planning, implementing, and monitoring several projects at a time.
- Ability to handle fast paced environment with many disruptions
- Ability to perform while remaining on your feet for long periods of time
- Demonstrate organizational & scheduling skills (including multi-tasking)
- Excellent computer skills; excel, data entry, website management, social media
- Availability to work non-traditional shifts, focusing on evenings and weekends
- Experience in other areas of Theatre Production considered an asset.
- Bilingualism (English & French) will be considered an asset.
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate (preferred).
- OWHSA/WHMIS/AODA completed upon hiring.
Compensation:
- This position is a part-time position, approximately 10 hours per week ($18.60 per hour)
