The Opportunity
Join our team as a Bookkeeper & Tax Specialist at our Etobicoke office. This is a permanent, full-time and in-office opportunity, with strong potential for growth. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing internal accounting functions and delivering exceptional service to our diverse clientele. This is an ideal opportunity for a candidate who is proficient in QuickBooks, well-versed in personal and corporate tax filings, and ready to contribute to a fast-paced, professional team environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Internal Corporate Accounting
The candidate will assist with day to day accounting needs involving a group of companies that primarily focuses on mortgage lending, servicing and investment operations. A comprehensive but not exhaustive list of duties include:
- Maintaining accurate day-to-day bookkeeping for all Indigoblue Group of Companies’ accounts using QuickBooks.
- Recording, tracking, and reconciling Mortgage Investment Corporation (MIC) transactions, including mortgage funding & discharges.
- Overseeing monthly reconciliations, financial workflows, and internal accounts to ensure accurate and timely closing.
- Generating internal financial reports and summaries to inform company strategy and compliance.
- Ensuring all internal financial documentation is current, well-organized, and audit-ready.
- Preparing and filing corporate tax returns in accordance with up-to-date CRA requirements.
2. Client-Facing Bookkeeping & Tax Services
The right candidate will be delivering exceptional, proactive service to a diverse range of individual and small business clients under the supervision of Director, Accounting & Finance involving:
- Providing full-cycle bookkeeping for external clients—including data entry, bank reconciliations, and maintaining ledgers using QuickBooks.
- Supporting business registrations, filings, and renewals for client businesses as part of our client onboarding and compliance services.
- Preparing and filing both personal and corporate tax returns in accordance with up-to-date CRA requirements.
- Acting as a point of contact with the CRA on behalf of clients—resolving inquiries and managing correspondence.
- Gathering financial documents from clients, delivering regular updates, and resolving outstanding issues with professionalism and discretion.
- Developing client-ready financial summaries, tailored reports, and compliance documents.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years’ hands-on experience in bookkeeping and tax preparation (experience serving a diverse client base is an asset).
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks; experience with CCH iFirm Tax Prep preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of current Canadian tax regulations (personal and corporate).
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational ability, and time management skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated, accountable, and effective at managing multiple priorities within deadlines.
- Professional integrity and commitment to client confidentiality.
Compensation Package
