Barrie Chrysler is currently seeking a Body Shop Painter to join our team of customer focused professionals within our high volume and process-driven dealership.
Purpose/Summary of Position:
- The Body Shop Painter is required to perform skilled tasks in the prepping and refinishing of vehicles. He/she restores vehicles to their original appearance. He/she uses hand tools and power tools to mask, prep for paint and refinish all damaged surfaces. The Body Shop Painter works with a variety of refinishing materials, hand tools as well as masking materials. The Body Shop Painter is responsible for the health and safety within the refinish department. Work assignments will be received in the form of oral or written work orders, but the employee is expected to determine the nature and extent of needed refinishing.
- This role is responsible for following established processes and procedures for their role and achieving targeted goals and objectives. This role is responsible for ongoing collaboration with fellow team members; driving sales and improving efficiencies whenever possible.
Required Qualifications:

- Performs repairs on customer vehicles with a focus on quality workmanship and fixed right first time
- Review damage report and estimates of refinish cost and plan work to be performed
- Mix paint, blend and match colors
- 5+ years of experience as a body shop painter is preferred
- Plans refinish procedures using paint chips, spray out cards, manuals and experience
- Promotes dealership by presenting professional image, positive attitude, and clean work area
- Maintains cleanliness of the customer's vehicle and returns vehicle settings
- Completes repair orders within specified time frame and alerts appropriate personnel if delayed
- Follows all hazardous waste and safety regulations
- Completes required safety training courses; wears required PPE and adheres to company policies
- Completes necessary training as required and in accordance with prescribed timelines and manufacturer requirements; prepared to acquire additional certification as needed
- Maintains accurate time keeping procedures
- Assists fellow team members when required
- Provides feedback to management and maintain open communication on concerns, suggestions, requirements etc.
- Experience with Axalta Coating Systems is an asset
Candidates must possess:
- Automotive prep/refinish experience required
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to use refinish equipment, spray cards and computer tinting
