We’re seeking a licensed and experienced professional to join our team as a Bodily Injury Claims Advisor. This role requires a strong foundation in claims handling, particularly in automobile liability and property insurance, along with working knowledge of medical and legal principles, provincial insurance regulations, and claims investigation techniques. You’ll guide clients through complex claims with empathy and precision, leveraging your analytical skills, negotiation abilities, and sound judgment to ensure fair outcomes and uphold Desjardins’ commitment to service excellence across the Atlantic region. More specifically, you will be required to:
- Conduct thorough investigations and inspections to assess damages, estimate costs, and determine settlement amounts.
- Analyze medical, financial, and employment information to determine claim eligibility.
- Manage a dedicated caseload of bodily injury claims, while providing support with property insurance claims only during periods of exceptionally high volume in APD/Property.
- Negotiate settlements with clients, third parties, and legal representatives.
- Ensure claims are settled in accordance with Desjardins’ standards, policies, and contractual obligations.
- Meet deadlines to maintain client satisfaction and avoid penalties.
- Represent our Client and Desjardins in negotiations and agreements with third parties and external partners.

What you bring to the table
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- A minimum of three years of relevant experience
- Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
- Automobile liability claims experience
- Licensed to handle claims in Newfoundland, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island
- Intermediate knowledge interpreting medical reports, injury assessments, and rehabilitation plans.
- Intermediate knowledge provincial insurance regulations in Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia
- Intermediate knowledge policy language, coverage limits, exclusions, and endorsements.
- Intermediate proficiency in French
- Expert proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
- Able to accommodate a home office
