Position Summary:
South Country Co-op is seeking a friendly and customer-focused Bakery Clerk to join our team at the Northlands Food Store in Medicine Hat, Alberta. If you’re passionate about providing exceptional customer experiences, we’d love to hear from you!
Reporting to the Bakery Manager, the Bakery Clerk is responsible for providing excellent service to bakery customers, bagging and slicing bread, and assisting with general housekeeping and cleaning duties. The role may also include light decorating of bakery products.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide excellent customer service in the bakery department
Bag buns and bread products
Break out and prepare frozen dough for baking.
Bake and finish bakery products according to established standards.
Merchandise and display bakery items to ensure an appealing presentation for customers.
Slice bread using designated equipment
Receive, organize, and put away freezer and bakery orders.
Assist with light cleaning and maintaining a tidy bakery area
Help with decorating bakery products as required
Follow all safety and sanitation procedures
Support team members to ensure smooth daily operations
- Educate customers on the benefits of membership in South Country Co-op
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age and completed Grade 9
- Experience in a bakery or retail environment is an asset
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work well within multi-generational teams
- High level of integrity and a strong work ethic
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to food safety
- Physically capable of frequently lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs., and occasionally up to 50 lbs., including low-level and waist-level lifts
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks, including turning and reaching
- Must demonstrate a positive attitude, professionalism, and reliability
Work Schedule:
This position requires full availability, including weekdays, weekends and available to work between 4am to 10pm.
