Assistant Maintenance Managers are responsible for leading the Maintenance team in providing excellent service to hotel guests. Assistant Maintenance Managers ensure the smooth running of the Maintenance department during busy periods, and work hard to build positive relationships with all hotel staff and guests. Responsibilities for this role include:
- Assisting in overseeing the daily operations of the Maintenance department
- Ensuring all repairs and maintenance are completed properly with quality, consistency, and time management in mind
- Creating a positive, performance driven team environment, that motivates team to achieve company goals
- Reviewing maintenance reports and schedules/prioritizes repairs based on hotel needs
- Performing major repairs and special project maintenance, and assisting with the routine repairs as needed
- Regularly performing inspections on Maintenance Technicians and Supervisors work to ensure compliance and quality to Bellstar standards
- Assisting in the recruitment, hiring, and training of all new hires
- Assisting in performance review management, regularly giving feedback for improvement
- Assisting in administrative duties including scheduling, ordering, inventory, and payroll
- Ensuring operating equipment is maintained to the highest standard, and is used in a safe manner
- Constantly seeking out ways to improve service and increase guest satisfaction
- Complying with all legislative requirements and internal standards, policies, and procedures while upholding the company’s core values
- Other relevant and related duties as assigned
The “must haves”:
- A passion for the tourism industry
- 4 years of Maintenance Technician experience in a hotel or residential setting, with 2 years of Management experience
- A variety of intermediate construction skills including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, kitchen & bathroom remodeling and painting
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to give direction and delegate tasks
- Ability to work a variety of shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Great organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
- Physical ability to repeatedly lift, push, and pull up to 100lbs, as well as stand, bend, kneel, climb and stretch for long periods of time
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to speak with a variety of stakeholders
- Qualified applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada and, where applicable, possess a valid work or study permit that allows the candidate to fulfill the requirements of the role

Responsibilities
- Oversee all maintenance activities to ensure optimal functionality of hotel facilities.
- Manage a team of maintenance staff, providing guidance and support.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless operations.
- Maintain compliance with safety regulations and standards.
- Manage budgets related to maintenance operations.
- Conduct regular inspections and assessments of facilities.
- Report on maintenance activities and performance metrics.
- Qualifications
- Proven experience in management within the hospitality or facilities sector.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and electrical maintenance.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is a plus.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team.
- Strong project management skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills in English.
- Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is preferred.
