Job Description - Hydrovac Operator Assistant
Badger Daylighting Calgary Inc. is currently seeking professional Hydrovac Operator Assistants to join the largest Hydrovac fleet in Calgary. In addition, Badger has grown significantly over the past three years and offers complimentary services including air vacs, straight vacs, comb vacs, semi vacs, dump trucks, stone slingers and water trucks.
Badger Calgary has operated in Calgary since 1997 and has never had to lay off any people. We have long-term customers and work directly with all the major utilities which provides steady year-round work for our team.
Opportunities to advance to operator positions and other equipment are available for candidates that work hard, demonstrate a willingness to learn and have integrity.
Most work will be in or around the Calgary area with some short-term out of town work.
Training will be provided for people with a desire to succeed, are clean cut, and can pass a drug and alcohol test at the time of hire and project pre-access as per client requirements.
Requirements
- Previous hydrovac, straight vac, oilfield, construction, utility, farming experience preferred.
- Previous manual labour and experience working outside through winter preferred.
- Positive attitude towards safety and willingness to learn.
- Mechanical inclination an asset.
- Must be able to work with a partner and fit into the team atmosphere.
- Must demonstrate a strong customer service focus, being able to handle a wide array of customer requests on site, and interacting with many different personalities is key.
- A class 5 driver’s license is mandatory with driving experience and general knowledge of the area and less than 5 demerits.
- Safety tickets are not mandatory, but a great asset - First Aid/CPR, C.S.T.S., H2S, Fall Protection and Ground Disturbance.
- Must be ok with flexible hours. Start and end times vary day to day.
- Must me available to work weekends and holidays.
- Must be available for some evening and night shifts.
- Willing to learn and being coachable is key.
- Can listen to directions and follow procedures and work safely.
- Be prepared for physically demanding year-round outdoor work in all types of elements including heat, rain and snow.
- Must be able to lift 80+ lbs.
- Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
- Must have 5 or fewer demerits.
- Other duties as required i.e.) cleaning of shop, parts runs, yard maintenance.
