Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Caretaker to join our team. As an Animal Caretaker, you will be responsible for providing care and support to animals in our facility and educating guests.
Cobb’s Exotic Animal Rescue and Education Foundation strives to give all exotic animals a safe and healthy life – if they are living with us, or their pet owners. Our mission has two main points:
-Animal Safety and Wellbeing: To offer forever homes, rehabilitation, proper nutrition, and veterinary care for exotic animals that need it.
-Public Education: To educate the public with the aim of decreasing uninformed purchases as well as training current exotic animal owners how to better care for their animals. Added to this, general education programs educating people about different exotics, where they are from, how they live, etc.
Duties:
- Provide daily care and feeding for animals
- Clean and maintain animal enclosures, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment
- Assist with grooming and bathing of animals as needed
- Provide exceptional customer service to visitors, answering questions and providing information about our organization and the animals in our care
- Ensure customers and animals are interacting safely throughout the day
-Assist in off-site visits when needed
Qualifications:
-Minimum age of 16 years old
-Ability to work weekdays or weekends. Must be available at least 1 weekend day.
-Ability to commute to and from multiple locations
-Previous experience with animals is an asset (including pets!)
-Previous experience with kids and/or families is an asset
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately, adhering to proper handling protocols
-Ability to travel for weekend events is an asset
-The ideal candidate will be independently motivated, hardworking, and extremely keen on proper animal care and wellbeing. We are looking for someone who will love all of our animals, regardless of type. This includes our kangaroos/wallabies, sugar gliders, snakes, iguanas, goats, and many more!
