We’re looking for a Pet Care Specialist to join our team of dedicated, animal-loving professionals. This role focuses on the supervision, enrichment, and well-being of dogs and cats in our care while maintaining clean, safe, and positive environments.
What You'll Do Dog & Cat Care
- Supervise daycare and lodging pets with an eye for behavior, play safety, and wellness
- Interact with dogs using enrichment tools, appropriate redirection, and positive reinforcement
- Ensure all pets receive individualized care according to their profiles and special needs
- Follow proper dog handling, kennel safety, and introduction protocols
- Monitor and report behavior changes, eliminations, and any signs of illness or injury
Cleaning & Facility Care
- Maintain clean suites, cat condos, potty areas, and shared spaces multiple times per day
- Sanitize feeding stations, floors, and toys to meet facility standards
- Complete assigned cleaning checklists and communicate any maintenance issues
Communication & Documentation
- Accurately fill out care logs and lodging reports
- Share critical updates between shifts to ensure smooth transitions and continuous care
- Submit incident reports and maintenance requests when needed
Daily Enrichment & Lodging Routines
- Execute scheduled potty breaks, exercise sessions, and feeding protocols
- Provide structured play and downtime as appropriate for each pet's needs
- Assist with grooming dog check-ins, puppies, and special care pets as assigned
Overnight Care (when scheduled)
- Review overnight procedures and client notes before beginning shift
- Monitor pet safety throughout the night and follow emergency protocols if needed
- Ensure secure premises and enforce drop-off/pick-up policies after hours
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Prior experience working with animals (volunteer, personal, or professional)
- Comfortable with physically demanding tasks, including lifting 50 lbs, standing, walking, and bending throughout the shift
- Dependable, observant, and a great team player
- Strong communicator who takes direction well and stays calm under pressure
- Available for varied scheduling needs, including mornings (starting 6:30 AM), evenings (until 7 PM), weekends, and split shifts
- Self-motivated and passionate about animals and their well-being
